The Concept of Life and Younger Generation's Doubts

George Bernard Shaw is a philosopher in the sense that he has tried to present a comprehensive view on human nature and human life, and also to show the way in which human life is best to be lived. He has come to the conclusion that the life force is the essence, the ultimate reality behind the world of senses. He believed that the life force is responsible for the existence of life and the world. This theory of life force has been discussed in detail in the preface of his famous comedy "Man and Superman".

G.B. Shaw was actually an atheist and believed that life force is the power behind getting perfection. In the world, each and everything is trying to get perfection and the life force helps to get that level of perfection. He further eradicates that this perfection could only be achieved through the evolutionary process that is not continuous or faultless but a constant process of trial and error. It directly throws light on Darwin's theory of evolution and how a giraffe got a long neck on a trial and error basis.

Man is the instrument of the life force according to G.B. Shaw. So he presents the concept of superman who is always working for the betterment of society and its up-gradation through intellectual power. And women, in his philosophy, are only the instrument to multiply the generation and their sole purpose is to regenerate the population. While marriage restricts the man to be perfect in his purpose of upgrading the society. So Shaw is against marriage in his ideal proposal of life force.

The above description shows the explicit context of the younger generations' doubts nowadays. In this era of technology, everyone is doubtful of their creation and the purpose of their life. They also have the same doubts that reflected in the philosophy of Shaw that what is that life force?? who is behind their creation?? And what is their role in society? I explained the Western concept in detail because I wanted to show you the difference between the existed beliefs and the beliefs of Islam. Actually, Westerns are doubtful of their creation because they don’t believe in death. There is no concept of death in their philosophies and that is why they do whatever they want to do without any social and moral restrictions. But Islam represents that aspect of death in human life. They have to be accountable on the Day of Judgment, so they do whatever Allah and His Prophet (P.B.U.H) told them to do. They have the fear of conscience in them.

Hence this is the basic answer to younger generations' doubts. They should know that the life force is Allah.

Historical Background:

Shaw's theory of life force was influenced by the scientific theories of the 19th century. G.B. Shaw was actually inspired by three famous personalities of his time. Natchez and Schopenhauer both were German philosophers and presented their opinions about the life force. Natchez for the first time introduced the concept of superman while Schopenhauer presented the idea of will that one cannot will according to his own will in the presence of life force. And the third philosopher was Charles Darwin who worked over the process of evolution. Shaw got affected by these philosophers and created his own philosophy under their influence.
